Student Trip Preparation

As you prepare to cross borders, here are some assets to bring with you!

Flexibility– this will help with last-minute changes that will occur in schedules. Going with the flow of things will go a long way in decreasing your frustration.

Sense of Humor – This will make adapting to different realities such as new foods, power outages, inconsistent internet, high humidity and temperatures much easier.

Stamina and Endurance– Mental fatigue from everything being new, or lots of screen time will occur.  Some loading and unloading of supplies, wheelchairs, etc. may occur if you are in country, as well as walking to get to homes in rural parts of Belize.

Non-judgmental Attitude– Remember there are many ways of doing things- not right or wrong, just different!

Cultural Humility – This is the ability to learn from others and not have all the answers because they make sense to you!

TRAVEL INFORMATION

PASSPORTS AND VISAS

You will need a Passport to enter Belize from the USA.  Depending on which country you are a citizen of, you might be able to get a tourist visa upon your arrival.  This will be valid for 30 days, and can be renewed for a fee if your stay is beyond that time.  If you are from a country that does not allow you a visa upon arrival, you need to contact the Belizean Embassy to arrange for a visa prior to your arrival.

VACCINES

We ask all participants to check the CDC website for the latest vaccination information.  Click for the link below.
